From 4 to 7 November 2025, the THERMOBAT project was proudly showcased at Ecomondo 2025, the leading international event for the green and circular economy held at the Rimini Expo Centre (Italy). Ecomondo brings together innovators, policy makers, researchers, and industry stakeholders from across Europe and the Mediterranean to advance the ecological transition and highlight breakthrough technologies for sustainable development.
As a selected participant in the European Innovation Council (EIC) Pavilion, THERMOBAT had the opportunity to present its pioneering latent heat thermophotovoltaic battery technology — designed to store large quantities of renewable energy at low cost — to an expert audience of innovators and decision-makers.
The project’s presence was strengthened by the active participation of two key partners:
-
Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), coordinating partner and leader of core research and development tasks within the consortium.
-
Thermophoton, a specialist in high-temperature energy storage and thermophotovoltaic systems, contributing industrial insight and technological expertise.
A standout moment of the week was THERMOBAT being awarded Second Prize for Best Pitch among the EIC-supported projects presenting at the event — a recognition of both the project’s innovative impact and its potential to transform long-duration energy storage markets. (This achievement was reported by the project partners at the event.)
Participation in Ecomondo 2025 offered a unique platform to foster new collaborations, exchange ideas with stakeholders from the sustainability ecosystem, and reinforce THERMOBAT’s role in Europe’s transition to clean, reliable, and affordable energy storage solutions.
